Final edit for Christmas card

This post is the final part for my christmas card... as last post i explain about how i design and draw my christmas tree...so this post is about i put the christmas tree on my card...i just select all of the image in illustrator and copy and paste in photoshop...and for sure i got chage the position of the tree to let it feel real...

Next would be add some shining star using brushes and change the histogram colour to let the star shine...

Last, is the greeting and words for my greeting card....all of the words had added
1.drop shadow
2. inner shadow
3. outer glow
4. inner glow
5. stroke
6. gradient overlay

After all of the hard work for few night dind't sleep...below was the final work and this is the work that i gonna submit as my assignment 2..hope every 1 like it...and very thank you to dr. ken and mdm lydia to teach me and guide me in this semester for CG2.....thank you very much....

Christmas Card Process part 2

For the winter part...as i had the idea to draw the christmas tree on my own...so i choose to use adobe illustrator to draw my designed christmas tree...

firstly, i use pentool to draw the draft that i scan in illustrator...this is what i learn in CG 1 so i plan to used back this skill.....this is the based part of the christmas tree...i use black colour for the based because later on i need to add some christmas leaf on it.....

Secondly is the design on the leaf...this design is my work when i was in CG 1 so i used it back...it's a bit calligraphy and it's my loved too...so i change some leaf and colour to match the based in black---it's used
1. pen tool
2. change transperancy
3. add gradient
4. use lasso tool to let the leaf straight
5. use paint brush to change the green n white of the leaf...

Next, i combined the tree based and the leaf based....

After combined, i feel it's too plain for my christmas tree...it should be some small leaf and some light on the tree......so i used the brushes in illustrator to ass the light and star...and leaf i used lasso tool, magic wand tool and mesh tool to draw and paste it on the correct place.. and the most important is i also change the star and light gradient in this stage to let them shine...

After add star and change the gradient..i still feel left something, maybe is some small leaf or some calligraphy line of tree...so i just simply copy some of the leaf on the tree and add it in...actually all of those leaf can find in photoshop brushes...so i open the photoshop brushes and copy and paste in illustrator....and below is the final work for my christmas tree using illustrator...

Actually u can see that i always used gold as gradient and also green as most of the colour...it's because i need to match it wif my black based and it also give me the feel that christmas tree suppose to be...i don't really like the red colour christmas..as everything used to be in red...so i used the special way to represent the christmas i like.....

Process on the christmas card....

this is my brand new idea for my greeting card design..this time i goin to do a christmas card based on the idea autumn go and winter coming with the slogan ' spring had coming to an end'.....

firstly, same as usual...let me make the background 1st....as i very like the autumn n nature colour so the background should be yellowish(autumn leaves) for autumn part and blue(snow) for the winter part..beside that i also put some shadoe n special effects to separate the half paper as half for image n half for greeting.....

Next i put the autumn leaves using the brushes that already in photoshop....i set the spacing i want and also the special effect like noise, wet edge and dynamic...below is the process i set the leaves preset....

After the preset part, the final arrangement for my autumn leaves in the greeting card as below...here i also had change the correct nature colour to my leaves using green, smooth orange and yellowish colour...and also change the leaves angle, spacing and roundness to make it more nice and arrangable on my card....

Then the last session for my autumn part is write the greeting words in.... for the words spring had come to an end....i use special effect on those words....the special effects like drop and inner shadow, inner and outler glow, and also white stroke on the green words....
process n step are like below.....

this is all for my autumn part...winter part will be upload asap...keep in touch and follow up ya....

2nd design----Christmas card

i went to class last few days n i saw most of my friend were doing the assignmet 2...
when i compare mine wif them i feel like my card is like kindergarten works...i feel sad yet happy because i still have time to improve n change my design...

so i think n think, i don wan do birthday card anymore...seen i so like autumn leaves, i'll do the 2 different season apper in my card to show ' bye bye autumn n hello winter' to celebrate christmas...

as i had this idea...i try to search the autumn leaves n christmas trees on internet...n this is what i get for my brief idea.........

Draft of assignment 2 birthday card...

as previous post i say i might do a birthday card for madam lydia...so this post i'll show how i do for the card for the consultation 2....

below is the psd print screen for the birthday card n the cake making session.........

this is the 1st step i set up the half pages for the image and the greeting part...i use colour picker to choose the background colour i want then i add the grey colour to the swatches as i can change the RGB i want later on.....

this is the full image of background that i need to use....

next i use the layer style and lasso tool to draw a 3/4 round shape to write the name of the sender...

as i wan the sender part to be more special...so i copy the layer style n the round shape, reshape it n change the layer position let it look like 2 round shape stick together.....

next, i start to type my greeting to madam lydia using horizontal type tool n also the selection tool...and also not forget the colour of the words......

now is the most important part where now i would like to create n make a cake for madam lydia...firstly i use horizontal type tool for the happy birthday words as the cake layer....

then i use the vertical type text tool to type the happy birthday words to draw and shape the candle on the cake base....

lastly, the candle light...it's also make n shape by the same step as above..i use horizontal text tool to type the words n also change the colour using text colour tool....

Assignment 2 started.........

After finish busy with the assignment 1 wallpaper...now just i can release some breath...wuiiiii....
but assignment 2 due date is coming also...so after few days resting now must set up my turbo for assignment 2 greeting card....

we're require to create a greeting card in A4 size as half if the image n half is the greetings...

at 1st i was wondering wan to a birthday card for madam lydia as her birthday is on 27th dec....

the idea was come by the discussion board where she suggest 1 of our classmate send her a birthday card...so i plan to do so...

the image birthday card might be a birthday cake which i might use the 'happy birthday' words to build a cake shape...with a candle as well....

the background should be black colour as i need to use red colour as the candle...so i'll pop out my idea....

Final editing for Assignment 1

After consult madam lydia, she told me that the work juz worth 6 marks out of 15.....she say's it's too plain for the background n the photo was cover by the words n some sort of too simple for e wallpaper....so i try to change it as i change the background n add some effects like drop shadow to the photo n the words n info...n not forget also i add the colour on the open day words layout so it can pop out when ppl 1st saw the e wallpaper n will knw wat's it all about....

below was the works before n after edit...i feel it look better now....hehe

Assignment 1---E wallpaper for FOM Open Day

This was our 1st assignment and it's cost us 15 marks...so everyone was very care bout the assignment n try hard to make it as perfect as possible....hahaha..perhaps i need to use creative baru betul.....

before i start i had do some research about fom...i search on the background that i wanna use n also some of the faculty photo n student photo...as what i search here's the photo i use for my e wallpaper....

as i research MMU use blue colour to represent ourself so 1stly i put blue colour as background of my wallpaper...then i type on the title which is the most important things---FOM Open Day as below......n in this moment i had apply the colour which will pop out the title with yellow colour n also some effects n stroke let it more presentable...

after apply the background i start to edit n crop my photo n resize it to put on the polaroid at another page...all the photo is doin in the same step n in this time also i'm doing the layer n arrangable photo in the proper place....after all the photo had been resize n crop..i start to arrange it on my e wallpaper.....

the arrange n layer was apply as below......

as i had apply the layer n photo..it's time to put in the info of the faculty n also MMU contact list... all this was juz done by typing the text n changing font.....

lastly what i concern is the MMU logo i put stroke n effects on it... where i had place it on the lower right hand side....

And that all my assignment had done n i bring it to class as to consult mdm lydia on tutorial 6.....

Tutorial 6 -------Masks n Channel

Today was the class where we need to learn masks n channel in photoshop n also consultation on our 1st assignment the FOM Open day E-Wallpaper....

before i talk about my assignment let us see what we had learn in this class about masks n channel........

Using Channels To Mask Out Difficult Images In Photoshop

It would be very difficult and time consuming to separate this image from the background because of the complexity and fine detail involved with the feathers on the woman's headdress. This tutorial will focus on using Channels to help mask out complex objects with clean edges. This technique will also save you a lot of time. The initial goal is to separate the feathers from the pink background on the left side of the face, and there are lots of places where tiny bits of pink are showing through the feathers. We will use Alpha Channels, Quick Masks, Levels, Brushes and Color Range.

STEP 1 - Make A Duplicate Layer
Masking out Difficult Images in PhotoshopMake a duplicate layer of the image. This way the original is preserved on the background and we are working on a duplicated layer. Hide the background by clicking off its visibility icon. Choose Select> Color Range from the Menu.

When the Color Range Dialog box open, choose the Left Eye Dropper tool and click on the background color in the image window (pink). You will see the selected color turn white in the dialog box.
.

Move the Fuzziness slider until the image is mostly black and the background is a clean as you can get it. Tip: To add a color to the selection click on the eyedropper tool with the plus sign and click in the image. Click OK.

STEP 2 - Switch To The Channels Palette
Masking out Difficult Images in PhotoshopWith the selection active, switch to the Channels palette. Click the Create New Alpha Channel button, it's the second one to the right on the bottom of the channels palette.

A new alpha channel will now be visible. Press "Ctrl/Cmd+D" to Deselect and click on Alpha 1 in the channels palette.

The main window will now turn black and white. The advantage of using a channel is the ability to fine tune the selection without effecting the original image. Black represents the areas that we want to keep and white, the areas to be discarded.

STEP 3 - Click Image> Adjustments> Levels
Masking out Difficult Images in PhotoshopNotice that there are areas of gray, these would be semi-transparent and need to become solid black and white (except for areas that should be semi-transparent such as soft edges). There are tiny dots also visible, and these will make for a very messy selection. Here is a quick solution that I have come up with: Click Image> Adjustments> Levels.

In the levels Dialog box, click the black point slider on the left and drag it to the right until the gray areas have become a solid black, Slide the White point slider to the left until the whites are nice and clean and the grainy effect has gone. Click OK to apply.

STEP 4 - Fine Tune The Mask
Masking out Difficult Images in PhotoshopTime to fine tune the mask. Choose a black brush and make the edge hard. Paint over all the areas that belong in the object to mask out. Use a larger brush for large areas and a smaller brush for finer detail such as around the feathers. Use a white paint color to paint out the areas that should be removed.

STEP 5 - Toggle Views
Sometimes it can be hard to guess which part of the image belongs in the foreground and a peek at the original image is needed. Click on eye icon to the left of RGB at the top of the Channels palette. The original photo is now visible and the mask appears as a reddish color.

Click the eye icon to go back to the mask view. The mask can also be hidden by toggling the eye (visibility icon). Keep going until you have a clean mask.

STEP 6 - Reveal The Masking Effect
Masking out Difficult Images in PhotoshopHold Cmd (Ctrl PC) and click on the Alpha 1 thumbnail. You will now see an active selection. Click on RGB to see the color image. Open the layers palette. Select the working layer and press the Delete key (Backspace on Windows). The masked area of the background will now be removed to reveal a nice clean masking effect. At this point In am only worried about removing the pink background on the left.

STEP 7 - Final Details
If there are areas that still need to be removed - such as on the right side of this image, repeat the proceeding steps. Because each image is unique, some will need several passes and some can be done in a single pass.

As you can see, this technique is very effective and the image can be dropped onto any background.
